love and Truth

 Sunday, August 21, 2022 (6:21 a.m.)

♪Holy Spirit You are welcome here♪ That was my musical invitation much earlier this morning. Thank You God that we have such ready access to Your presence in our lives.

Reading in the book of Isaiah my hope and interest in learning more grows. I confess to correlating our present worldwide challenges with the confrontations offered by Your prophet.

Dearest Father as I continue reading in this particular book a different song begins. ♪Lord of heaven and earth… God of Wonders♪ Thank You Lord for the way You bracket in Your Truth with praise songs of worship to You.

According to The Life Recovery Bible the purpose for the book of Isaiah was “to confront the people of Judah with their sin and denial and to inspire them to rebuild their lives based on God’s promises.” The book addresses “the false promises of idolatry… self-destructive patterns of behavior that included oppressing the poor, accepting bribes, and lying to get what they wanted.”

Lord God, I am again reminded of history repeating itself. As well as the saying, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” We are in a world of hurt Dearest God. We need Your presence! ♪Holy Spirit You ARE welcome here♪

Chapter four (vs. 2-6) tells of A Promise of Restoration. Verse 2, “But in that day, the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious…” ♪Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth♪

Chapter 11 describes Your promise in greater detail. “A Branch from David’s Line Out of the stump of David’s family [Jesse] will grow a shoot - yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him - the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD” (1-2).

Mm, this very same Spirit that truly is welcome here! Looking again at the origin to ♪Holy Spirit♪ I read, “The lyrics praise and welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives to guide us in love and truth.”

I invite You Dear Spirit to guide me in love and Truth this day. Do all You must in, with, by, through and for me. I love, need and want Your presence. Thank You God. Praise You. Amen.
