kindnesses of others

 Wednesday, August 21, 2024 (6:42 a.m.)

Holy God,

You give us so much. Joy. Beauty. Songs. Smiles. Your Word of Truth and promises. Kindnesses of others.

Yes. Father, I recognized my tears yesterday as being a direct result of the kindnesses of others. A beep and message warning of low tire pressure. The decision to drive the car to a nearby dealership. Three encouragingly kind men. Each working to mark [a nail] and properly inflate the tire.

Another decision to drive on said tire in the opposite direction of my intended destination. The smiling helpfulness of a tire guy at our tire shop of choice. Lord, You had this all! I just took the next step. Thank You.

Yes! Thank You for leading, guiding, directing all of our next steps. Thank You that when trouble comes, You are already in control.

(7:31 a.m.)

Thank You for the times [much like yesterday] when our plans go awry. And Your presence is made known to us through the kindnesses of others.

Those times when we get to truly practice not worrying about anything, instead praying about everything. Telling You what we need. And thanking You for all You have done (Philippians 4:6).

Said this way in The Message, “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness [that peace which passes all understanding], everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life” (vs. 6-7).

Yes Father! Life in, with, by, through and for You is indeed wonderful. Use me today. Exactly as You know is best. Thinking, saying, being and doing all that You would have of and for me. I love, need, trust and want You as absolute Lord of my life. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
