Psalm 46

Friday, October 11, 2019 (5:30 a.m.)
Oh Most Dear and Holy God,

We need You. It’s scary and sad out there. Fires. Winds. Things we can’t control.
(6:06 a.m.)

Blessed God, there is so much to read in Your Word concerning things we can’t control. Thank You that You are here with us. In and through it all.

I confess Father, my go to response to most every problem is fear. What if… What about…

Thank You that You Your Word directs us differently. “Fear not…” “Be of good courage…” “Do not be afraid…”

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Your help doesn’t always look the way we think it should.

“The nations are in an uproar, and kingdoms crumble! God thunders and the earth melts!” (v. 6). That’s kind of how it seems these days Lord.

“The LORD Almighty is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress” (vs. 7, 11). This is the Truth we need to know and depend on.

Most Holy God, we love You so much. We need You.Your presence. Your shelter.

♪A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, A bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe Doth seek to do his woe - his craft and pow’r are great And armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal♪

The hymn continues. Based on Psalm 46. Reminding us of Your power.

♪Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing Were not the right man on our side, The man of God’s own choosing Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus it is He…♪

Christ Jesus, we need You. Yes. A Bulwark [Protector, Defender, Guard, Defense, Supporter, Safeguard, Mainstay, Stronghold] never failing!

♪… Let goods and kindred go, The mortal life also - The body they may kill; God’s Truth abideth still; His Kingdom is forever♪

Yes, yes, yes Father. “The LORD Almighty is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress” (vs. 7, 11).

Do all You must Dearest God. You know Your plan. You know what is best. We love You. We need You. And we thank You. Dearest God how we thank You for Your plan, Your love, Your presence.

Thank You. We love You. Amen.
