greatest importance

Labor Day Monday, September 7, 2020 (6:33 a.m.)

Dearest, Holiest God,

I left our time here together yesterday to go off and do other things. Nothing of great importance. In fact, there is nothing of greater importance than You.

Thank You Father. Thank You for reminding me that You are the absolute greatest importance of all!

Taking the phrase ‘great importance’ into Your Word, I am directed to 1 Corinthians 12:24. One Body with Many Parts. Here the apostle Paul taught the importance of love over Spiritual Gifts.

As I again examine this section Lord, I tie it together with a current health issue of a much loved one. Blessed God, I know You to be good. Always working for the good of those who love You and have been called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

Here I will continue praying. And trusting. Asking and believing. Lord, we love You and seek Your healing.

As I read 1 Corinthians 12 in J.B. Phillips New Testament of the many parts and members in one body I liken Paul’s teaching to our families as well. “But God has arranged all the parts in the one body according to His design. For if everything were concentrated in one part, how could there be a body at all?”

Not one part can say they don’t need another. The eye is not of greater importance than the hand.

“On the contrary, those parts of the body which have no obvious function are the most essential to health; and to those parts of the body which seem to us to be less deserving of notice we have to allow the highest honour of function” (v.22).

I continue reading of the importance and essentiality of all the parts and I marvel at Your goodness Father. Thank You that You prepared ahead of our every need.

“But God has harmonized the whole body by giving importance of function to the parts which lack apparent importance, that the body should work together as a whole with all the members in sympathetic relationship with one another. So it happens that if one member suffers all the other members suffer with it, and if one member is honoured all the members share a common joy” (vs. 24-26).

We are tied together. Under Your watchful eye. I ask You Father to use this current medical crisis for Your good and Your glory. We love You Father. And one another. Do all You must in bringing harmony to this whole body.

We love You. We need You. We praise You. And we ask You. For healing. In Jesus’ most holy name. Thank You. Amen.
