Self-perception

Saturday, August 11, 2012 (7:37 a.m.)
Awesome Father,
You are so good. So holy. So loving. So kind. Thank You. Thank You that we are made in Your image (Genesis 1:26). And that You ‘saw everything You had made and it was very good’ (v. 31).
According to different translations it was: ‘supremely good’ (CEB); ‘suitable, pleasant’ (AMP); and You were ‘very pleased’ (GNT); ‘so good, so very good’ (MSG).
Sometimes I forget that we are “crowned with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5). Too often I focus on the negative. The flaws and failings of myself and others. Then on a day like today, I am reminded. “We are created in the image of God, and thus have infinite worth and value. Our respect for others, and our acceptance of ourselves, and our sense of the worth of every individual, rest on this foundation.” (Illustrated Bible Handbook)
Father God, thank You for the opportunity to be reminded that “people with perfect health, living in a perfect environment, rebelled” against You. (The Life Recovery Bible)
You provided us the opportunity to carry Your image and likeness into the world. We do it imperfectly. You also gave us the privilege to think, feel, value and choose. Again, not perfect.
BUT! Because Jesus came and did perfectly what You sent Him into the world to do, we all have the potential for restoration. And why? Because You are so good. So holy. So loving. So kind.
Thank You Father, for all You are and all You created us to be. Help us to glorify, honor and enjoy You this day. It is in Your Son’s most holy name that I pray. Thank You Father. I love You. Amen.
