resting

 Sunday, August 13, 2023 (6:03 a.m.)

Holy God,

Thank You for rest. Mm, yes. Rest.

Interesting that I can find references of resting IN You. Even ON You. Nothing about resting WITH You.

Psalm 62:1 waiting quietly

Hebrews 4:1-11 peace, faith, perseverance

(6:58 a.m.)

Blessed Father, I like the way You work! Grabbing my attention. Making me hunger and thirst for Your Truth (Matthew 5:6). Changing just one word [trust to rest] in a song.

♪_____ in the Lord with all Your heart, Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths♪ (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Oh yes, Dearest God! So many Scripture verses point to the importance of resting in You. Leaning not on our own understanding.

Thank You so much for the shifts You make in my thinking. Following Your lead more deeply into Your Word.

Isaiah 40:30-31. New American Bible (Revised Edition). “Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.”

Other versions say, “wait upon, wait for, trust in, wait with hope, keep waiting” to describe what we are to do as we practice resting in You. Thank You God for all Your Truth teaches us.

Patient faith. Endurance. Time. Rest. Promises. Trust. Belief. Hope. All these we have in You.

The Life Recovery Bible comment for Proverbs ”3:5-6 What a promise! God will guide us on the pathway of life if we put our trust in Him rather than try to do it on our own. Putting God first means turning our life and will over to Him. Surrendering to His leadership is humbling, but it is the only way for us to lead a good life.”

Father, I ask (Matthew 7:7) You to continue providing the rest and Truth You know we need. We love, need, trust and want You as Lord of our lives. Use us exactly as You know is best. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
