bringing my sadness to God

 Monday, February 17, 2025 (6:24 a.m.)

Holy God,

This morning I bring to You a whole lot of sadness. Regret. Concerns. Tears. An enormous sense of loss. Indecision. Fear.

Thank You for allowing me into Your presence. Exactly as I am.

Searching “bringing my sadness to God”

(6:42 a.m.)

Oh look. I’ve been awake for over four hours and I finally have a smile! Thank You Lord.

Reading “God Wants Our Sad” (by Esther Fleece Allen) I get to learn again about the importance of lamenting. “… simply expressing honest emotions to God when life is not going as planned. Whether we’re hurt, frustrated, confused, betrayed, overwhelmed, sad, or disappointed, lament is the lan

[♪Still I Will Praise I’m Gonna Praise!! That’s Who I Praise♪ Oh! Thank You God. You helped me find it! Right in the middle of learning more about lamenting!]

OH! Now I’m even laughing! Thank You Father. You are absolutely the very best medicine for our hurting souls.

No amount of late night ice cream, favorite nutrition-lacking chips and countless hours of mindless TV will ever take away the hurt in our hearts. Searching to find how best to express ourselves to You is our way out of all the traps satan has set for us (2 Timothy 2:26).

Now back to where I left off in the quote… “lament is the language God has given us to talk to Him right in the middle of life’s messes. It’s real talk when you’re hurting, when all you can do is cry out for His help. It’s a prayer that says, God, I’m hurting - will You meet me here? And as such, it is a prayer to which God always responds.”

Thank You that You do Dearest Lord! There is no way for me to push through any of this without You. Thank You that I don’t have to!

“Lament is a pathway. Honest expression to God makes way for God to come and work His real healing. Lament is a channel for powerful transformation. It is exactly the kind of song we need for hope and healing.”

(7:34 a.m.)

Thank You Father. Coming before You with my sadness empowers and enables me to find and sing the song that’s inside.

♪I wanna dance like David I wanna faith like Paul… I’m gonna praise I praise the heaven seated undefeated highest of names That’s Who I Praise… I wanna love like Jesus That kinda grace I wanna live like I’ve got no more precious time to waste I’m gonna give Him glory With all my thanks ‘Cause there’s no greater, stronger higher name and that’s who I praise♪

Yes! Amen to that!

Thank You for taking my tears and turning them into cheers for You! I love, need, trust and want You Lord. Use me as You know is best. My sadness as well as my gladness. Thank You for being my Dad. That’s Who I praise! Amen.
