"Peace! Be still!"

 Friday, July 4, 2025 (5:42 a.m.)

Blessed God,

Thank You. I slept. Then woke. I’ve sung. And read. Now I thank. And praise. Worshipping You for who You are. And all You do.

Father thank You. You calm hearts. Quell fear. Teaching us to turn to You. Trusting. Believing. Knowing You are good. Great. Glorious. Gracious (Psalm 145:5-8).

Lord God, there are so many things in this life over which we have no control. Continue teaching me where You would have me spend my energy. Pointing to You.

Waking again to the Truth found in Your Word via the lyrics of ♪Still Water (Psalm 23)♪ I am grateful to sing of the peace we find in You. Thank You Father.

Thank You that we get to ♪choose to praise You… sing hallelujah to the One Who the world says can’t be done… Worship Through It♪ No matter what the “it” may be.

Holy Father God, thank You that You truly whisper to us “peace be still.” In so many ways. Through various songs.

Thank You Lord that as my heart sings to You, my curiosity leads me to learn new things. Recording artists dealing with their own fears and anxieties. Using music and Your Word of Truth and promises as “a prayer of peace and a weapon of worship.”

♪I don’t want to be afraid

Every time I face the waves…

I don’t want to fear the storm

Just because I hear it roar…

Peace be still

Say the word and I will

Set my feet upon the sea

’Til I’m dancing in the deep

Peace be still

You are here so it is well

Even when my eyes can’t see

I will trust the voice that speaks♪

Yes! Father I want to trust Your voice that speaks to us. Not being afraid. Fully believing that it is well!

Mark 4:38-40. Expanded Bible. “Jesus was at the back of the boat [stern], sleeping on a cushion. His followers [They] woke Him and said, ‘Teacher, don’t You care that we are drowning [perishing]?’ Jesus stood up and commanded [reprimanded; rebuked]  the winds and said to the waves [sea], ‘Quiet! [Peace!] Be still!’ Then the wind stopped, and it became completely calm. [This parallels God’s subduing of the waters representing chaos in the OT; Ps. 65:7; 89:9; 107:29.] Jesus said to His followers [them], ‘Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?’”

Hmm… do you still have no faith? How often do I resemble this very question?

Father, thank You for being so much bigger than every single one of our storms. Do all You must in preparing me to be used exactly as You know is best. I love, need, trust and want You as absolute Lord of my life. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
