sitting in sadness

 Thursday, June 12, 2025 (4:41 a.m.)

Blessed, Holy, Mighty, Powerful God and Father,

Thank You!

I sat in sadness with You yesterday. For over four solid hours. Refusing any thoughts or attempts to work or eat it away. Yes. I sat right here in it. Allowing myself to feel it. Even welcoming it at one point. Then suddenly I noticed it was leaving. Thank You.

(5:44 a.m.)

Holy God, thank You for opportunities to turn to You. Sit with You. Learn from You.

Searching about sitting with sadness I read, “Intense sorrow is no obstacle to intense joy - quite the opposite. It is only when we learn to stop hardening our hearts and protecting ourselves that we become capable, not only of embracing the ‘ugly’ human experiences that we’d rather avoid, but also of experiencing the boundless joy of the resurrection. May Jesus open our hearts and help us to empathize with each other as we watch and wait in hope” (Fr. Derek Sakowski).

Without realizing it, I watched and waited in hope yesterday. Following Your lead, I sat. Felt sad. Didn’t rush about trying to make it pass. I stayed in it until I genuinely smiled and it left of its own accord.

Thank You Father. In wanting desperately to love and represent You well, You provided me Your Truth. Again. Proverbs 16:9.

“A man’s heart deviseth his way, but the LORD directed his steps” ()King James Version.

EasyEnglish Version, “People make plans for what they will do, but it is the LORD who leads them in the right way.”

Evangelical Heritage Version, “A person’s heart plans his way, but the LORD makes his steps secure.”

International Children’s Bible, “A person may think up plans. But the Lord decides what he will do.”

Good News Translation, “You may make your plans, but God directs your actions.”

The Message, “We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.”

The Voice, “People do their best making plans for their lives, but the Eternal guides each step.”

Father, as often as fear has been showing up around here, thank You that we have Your Truth and perfect love to cast it out (1 John 4:18). Do all You must in, with, by, through and for me most Blessed [Happy] God that I will live joyfully and abundantly to Your full measure.

Mm. Here I am again reading in Ephesians (3:16-19). Asking (Matthew 7:7) that Paul’s words come to fruition in me. “I pray that from His [the Father’s] glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Yes please Dearest God. I love, need, trust and want You. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
