pausing

♪Bess the Lord oh my soul Ohhh my soul Worship His holy name Seems Sing like never before oh my soul I worship Your holy name… There’s It’s a new day dawning Ohhh my soul 10,000 Reasons…♪

Thursday, April 10, 2024 (5:26 a.m.)

Blessed Holy God,

Thank You for this opportunity to again wake up singing. And to come straight to Your Word with the identifiable lyrics to the song.

(5:39 a.m.)

Remember that glitch in my brain I mentioned to You last week? The one where I had to pause long enough for buffering to take place.

I just experienced something similar to it. Not the same, but close. I wasn’t sure of the date. So I paused. Took a breath. And looked at the calendar on the screen.

Father, thank You for the reminder of the importance of pausing. Especially when said pausing involves being with You.

Recently, I’ve been recognizing my feelings of emotional imbalance. The desire to regain a sense of rhythm. Thank You for Your steadying hands on me at all times.

There’s It’s a new dawning…

… You’re rich in love and You’re slow to anger

Your name is great And Your heart is kind

For all Your goodness I will keep on singing

10,000 reasons for my heart to find♪

(6:14 a.m.)

Blessed Father, thank You for continuing to sing and steady me. Yes! Jude 24 (The Voice). “Now to the One who can keep you upright and plant you firmly in His presence - clean, unmarked, and joyful in the light of His glory - ”

THAT’s the kind of balance I seek Dearest Lord. You keeping me from stumbling. And falling. That I will stand “tall in [Your] bright presence, fresh and celebrating” (The Message).

Yes Father. When I pause long enough for You to refresh, restart and renew my being, I am blessed by all these reasons for my heart to find!

A blogpost with Scrabble tiles spelling out “Pause Breathe Resume” has me intrigued. The gist is to learn to take regular pauses. Reflecting. Evaluating. Listening.

Oh how I want to listen to You Dearest God. Learning to identify the rhythm and pace You have set for me.

I am a slow moving person. How I ask (Matthew 7:7) You to adjust my will and wants to Yours. Teach me Your fine art of pausing. Reflecting. Being still and silent in Your presence. Mm. Yes please!

Here again I pray the apostle Paul’s words to the church at Rome. “Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in Him. And may the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with His super-abundance until you radiate with hope!” (Romans 15:13 The Passion Translation).

Yes please, Dearest Dad. I want Your kind of hope. Filling me with all joy and peace. Uncontainable and perfect. Do all You must to this end. I love, need, trust and want You.

Use me as You know is best. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
