Smiles. Love. And laughter.

I heard it again yesterday Lord. All the love and laughter of one very dear family. Flowing freely over our backyard fence.

My tears flow just as freely while remembering the love and laughter I have been blessed to witness these past 30+ years. Thank You Father.

Thank You for the example You have provided me first hand. Parents who truly trained up their children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). Yielding a family who genuinely honor their father and mother (Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16; Ephesians 6:2-3).

I can think of no finer gift than hearing Your love played out firsthand over these many years. From the sound of the back door closing to the first kick of a soccer ball, followed by giggles that quickly become peals of laughter. Each igniting memories of days gone by.

Lord God, thank You for all the love You so freely provide us. Thank You for this family that so naturally personifies it. Bless them as they adjust to life without their beloved dad's physical presence here with them. Teach me to use Your love and their example in my everyday life.

I love, need, trust and want You. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
