tears of absolute gratitude

Holy Father God,

I have tears Lord. Great big, sobbing tears. Sadness? Maybe. Regret? Definitely. Joy? Not yet. Gratitude? ABSOLUTELY!

A perfect last day. Last day of our trip. Last day in this cabin. Last day of watching this view first hand.

Father, thank You. Yes. Thank You again and again and again.

Kite flying. Successful overnight guest. Well received breakfast. Geese at the water’s edge. Clouds. Shades of blue sky. Shadows of mountains. Completed jigsaw puzzles. Time to pack. And there will be so many more tears.

I’m looking to You Blessed God. I absolutely can’t do any of this without You.

Very vocal geese flapping, fluttering, swimming and playing in the water evoke genuine joy and laughter. As does watching our precious son practice an aerial act atop the playground slide.

Thank You Lord. You just reminded me:

I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing

Not joy. Nor fun. Beauty. Opportunity. Keep me open to it all Dear Lord.

Our time here is brief. Momentary.

(3:24 p.m.)

And there I got to pause. Heave heavy sobs. Play at bocce. And throwing horseshoes.

Sun setting. Heart expanding with more gratitude.

Lord, a six decade wonder met with St. Augustine’s 1,600 year old theory concerning time and consciousness.

St. Augustine wrote, questioned and ultimately provided no good answer as to what time really is. I am greatly comforted by this.

“His enquiries eventually led him to wonder what time must be like in God’s plane of existence.” Yes! My own thoughts regarding eternity. “'God's time' is something we humans will never be able to understand… neither future nor past…”

And there we have it! I want to take this moment. These rippling wavelets. The rapidly changing colors of the clouds. And use them all to Your glory.

You have blessed us supremely Lord. Use me exactly as You know is best. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
