"Love is..."

 Friday, September 6, 2024 (6:08 a.m.)

Blessed, Holy God,

Thank You. You are good. Great. Glorious. Gracious (Psalm145:5-8). Merciful. Mighty. Powerful. All knowing.

Thank You that You not only call us repeatedly to love one another, You provide instruction and ability to succeed. Thank You for Your Word of Truth and promises. Teaching us what is of You. And what is not.

Father, I ask (Matthew 7:7) You to work in, with, by, through and for me. Changing me as You alone know is necessary. Using me as You know is best.

Lead, guide and direct me to loving as You would have me love. You. Others. Myself. Completely. Heart. Soul. Mind. And strength (Mark 12:30-31).

According to The Passion Translation, “Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

Blessed, Holy Father God, I want to learn to love like that. Do all You must. Thank You. Praise You. I love, need, trust and want You. Amen.
