Snarl. Growl. Discontent…
Turning. Looking to You. Halfheartedly. Wanting to want what You have for me. Yes!
Not yet ready to sing. But there came a smile. And the absolute desire to want what You know is best.
I have a laundry list of complaints. Concerns. Doubts. Inconveniences.
Father, thank You that I get to come to You when I ‘m feeling dissatisfied. Asking (Matthew 7:7a) You to change my attitude. Yes. I much prefer rejoicing and being glad (Psalm 118:24b) over grumbling and moroseness.
Lord, thank You that we are able to come to You exactly as we are. No pretense. Basic. Raw. Needy.
And then You sing to me. Inviting me.

Jesus is calling…
O Come to the Altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ♪
Oh, yes. Thank You Father. I can’t pretend to believe. I must choose Jesus’ blood as my first line of defense.
Thinking about it doesn’t make it so.
♪Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today, there’s no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy♪
Yes please. Let’s do that!
Thank You for Your Truth. Thank You for Your promises. Thank You that I get to read Jesus’ own words regarding ‘grief suddenly turning to wonderful joy’ (John 16:20b).
Thank You for the hope I gain from reading Your Word. And comments about Your Word.
“16:20-22 Jesus’ followers certainly grieved the imminent loss of their friend and master… But there is no pain so great that Jesus cannot heal it. When we find the courage to honestly face and grieve over our losses and injuries, we can discover what lies beyond grief - freedom and joy!”
Yes! Yes, please.
I look to You for my way to freedom and joy. Calling again on the apostle Paul’s words to the Romans. I ask them to be made true in me.
Romans 15:13. “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because You trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Father, thank You. Wanting simply to want what You know is best allows me to truly thank and praise You as I was unable to do earlier. All my thoughts couldn’t change my heart. Thank You that YOU can! And did.
“I love You, GOD- You make me strong” (Psalm 18:1 The Message). Thank You that You do. Use me exactly as You know is best. Thank You. Praise You. I love, need, trust and want You. Amen.
