Thank You Father,
There was sleep. And warmth. And Your love. Here’s a smile. A sense of contentment. Yes. Contentment in Christ. Teach me more please.
“Contentment means living in God’s fulness”
Philippians 4:8, 11, 13
Psalm 103:1-2
Matthew 7:7-12
Colossians 1:29
2 Corinthians 12:9
Matthew 6:32
“Our happiness is more firmly rooted in God’s pleasure than in our circumstances”
Be either thankful or patient in every circumstance
(7:19 a.m.)
Hours of awake time. Several spent “surfing”. Thank You for continuing to call me to narrow my search. To the things that will feed and fuel me.
Thank You for the desire to want the things You want for me. Which brings me to the very real question. What are those things You want for me?! Peace of heart and mind was the immediate thought.
Jeremiah Burroughs shared his findings on contentment in The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment. “… is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God’s wise and fatherly disposal in every condition.”
I have a LOT of smiles this morning Lord! All because I began our time together with the words, “Thank You Father.” That is NOT what my mind and heart were thinking and feeling at the time.
As soon as they came out, so did the smile. A smile of… [You knew it!] contentment! Thank You Lord!
Your Word is filled with Your Truth and promises. How grateful I am to have easy, ready access.
This morning I am asking (Matthew7:7) You to define my desires for me. “Trust in the LORD, and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes” (Psalm 37:3-7).
Hmmm…
Trust in You
Do good
Delight in You
Commit everything I do to You
Trust You
Be still in Your presence
Wait patiently for You to act
Don't worry [where have I heard/read (Philippians 4:6) THAT before?!]
Nowhere does it tell me I must figure everything out!
Trust. Do good. Delight. Commit. Trust again. Be still. Wait patiently. Don't worry. Yes please. Continue teaching me that ‘Your grace is all I need. Your power works best in weakness’ (2 Corinthians 12:9).
I love You Lord God. I need, trust and want You. Do all You must in, with, by, through and for me that I will continue growing in my contentment in Christ. Use me as You know is best. Glorifying and enJOYing You. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
