only a dream

♪I speak the name of Jesus over me

Yes Lord. I am speaking and singing Your name over myself right now. I had an extremely unsettling dream just now. Filled with confusion. Unrest. Disruption. Sadness.

Thank You that it was only a dream. And since I was dreaming that means I had gone back to sleep. Thank You for that.

Thank You for the easy access I have for finding songs when I only know a few words. ♪A-a-a-men, amen, amen♪ took me straight to The Blessing. And ♪… in the storm♪ allowed me to find Praise You In This Storm.

Father, thank You for songs that sing Your Truth. Thank You for the comfort that they bring. Especially during times of upset.

There is a peacefulness that comes from within. A soothing calmness as various lyrics allow my brain to shift its focus. Thank You for the letters we have from the apostle Paul teaching us where to place our thoughts.

(6:23 a.m.)

Yes Father. Thank You for the records we have of Paul’s teachings. Calling Your people to obey You.

I confess to being one who used to hold on to every negative thought and idea. Mulling over injustice. Plotting how best to retaliate against others.

Then You came into my life. Calling me to “not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform me into a new person by changing the way I think” (Romans 12:2a). Thank You Father that Your Word is Truth (John 17:17).

Thank You for teaching us to “capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5b). Thank You for all You do for the good of Your Kingdom..

Blessed God I want You to use me exactly as You intended when You put me together in the first place (Psalm 139:13). You know all the plans You have for me (Jeremiah 29:11a). Do all You must that You are truly glorified and enjoyed.

As I prepare to go out into the day I ask (Matthew 7:7a) You to enable me to practice Paul’s plea to the Philippian believers. I want to “Fix my thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all I can praise God for and be glad about” (Philippians 4:8).

Yes Father. I want to praise and be glad about You. I love, need, trust and want You Lord. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
