following Your lead

 Saturday, January 9, 2021 (5:55 a.m.)

Most Dear and Holy God,

I want to be Yours today. Not left to my own devices. Following Your lead.

1 Chronicles 16:11

Proverbs 3:5-6

Thank You for calling us to You. Thank You for providing our every need. Thank You that You are good. And holy. Eternal. Always.

(6:51 a.m.)

I look to You. And then I wander off. Distracted by “something shiny”. Lord God, there is nothing shinier than You!

(7:18 a.m.)

I read. And wonder. Consider. Think. And attempt to follow what has been said through the millennia. Lord God, I am grateful. Thankful that we are free to come before You. Asking. Seeking. Knocking (Matthew 7:7).

It’s so easy for me to get sidetracked. Thinking one thing to be true. And then following a “pretty bird” in another direction.

I am reading of David’s worship and praise of You (1 Chronicles 15:19-16:43). Not fully understanding his wife Michal’s contempt for him, I dug deeper. 2 Samuel 6:16-23. And learn more of their complicated relationship.

Dearest God, relationships can be so fragile. We must be aware. Open. Honest. Forgiving. Communicative. Lest we become sullen. Bitter. Sarcastic.

Lord God, Your Word warns us. Spurs and encourages us in following Your lead. David’s plan was to build a temple to house the Ark of Your Covenant (2 Samuel 7:1-2; 1 Chronicles 17:1-2). But You had a better plan (2 Sam 7:9-16; 1 Chronicles 17:7-14; Proverbs 3:4-6). You know Your best for us Father. Thank You, Lord.

Do all You must in aligning us to Your will and Your way. We long that our steps be in line with Your lead and Your timing. We love You. We need You. Lead us that we will follow. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
