under the sun

Friday, March 8, 2024 (5:50 a.m.)

Blessed Father,

We, as a nation and the world, are in desperate need of Your intervention. Your sovereignty. Your divine rule overall.

(6:33 a.m.)

Thank You Lord that we are able to bring our concerns, our hopes and fears straight to You. Thank You that Your Word has something to say about every single aspect of our beings.

As the preacher/teacher of Ecclesiastes repeatedly points out, “there is nothing new under the sun” (1:9). “The thing that has been - it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun” (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition).

Oh, most dear and glorious God and Father, we need You. We desperately need You!

Thank You for the opportunity to sit. Read. Question. Study. Ask. Seek. Knock (Matthew 7:7). Learn. Yes Lord.

Illustrated Bible Handbook tells us in “Value of Ecclesiastes” the importance of this distinctive OT book. “It is not meant for us to use as a source of information. Instead it is meant to communicate in compelling and deeply moving tones a message needed by all mankind. Apart from the perspective on life God’s Word provides, life truly is meaningless and empty.”

Father, thank You that my search doesn’t end there. The Life Recovery Bible takes Your Truth to words I understand.

“Since life is God’s good gift to be enjoyed, not a puzzle to be solved, Ecclesiastes helps us cope with humanity.” Thank You Lord. It truly is man’s inhumanity to man with which I have struggled for decades.

“There will be some things in life that we will never understand. Rather than attempt to understand the inscrutable events in our life, the Teacher counsels us to enjoy the parts that do make sense and to entrust the rest to God’s care.”

Taking it even further are the RECOVERY THEMES: The Paralysis of Analysis, Some Things Will Never Make Sense, Only God Can Fill Our Emptiness, Life is to Be Enjoyed Responsibly. Teach me how Dear Lord.

There are injustices in this life that I will never understand. None of it is a surprise to You. I want to fully esteem and revere [fear] You. Obeying Your commands. For this is what it means to be human (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

I love You Lord. I need, trust and want You. Do all that is necessary that I will come to truly glorify and enjoy You forever. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
