This is most unexpected. Rereading the prayers from last week I suddenly have the desire to pray more. Comparing Philippians 4:7 with verse 9 I want to know more. Thank You Lord that we get to come to You. Repeatedly.
How perfectly titled is this section in Illustrated Bible Handbook. “Chapter 4. Joy in the Lord A Plea for Perspective; 4:2-9.”
Father, again You bless me. ♪… beyond all measure I’m counting every blessing… You are good to me♪ Without knowing, I seek and find. Wanting to learn more about the peace You have for us.
The apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippian believers encouraged and promised them. And now, us as well.
Chapter 4, verse 7. “Then [not worrying about anything, praying about everything, telling of needs and thanking God for all He has done (v.6)] you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Mm, yes Dear Lord! By fixing our thoughts on the eight whatevers of verse 8 [“what is true, honorable, right, pure, admirable, lovely, excellent and praiseworthy”] we are able to ‘Keep putting into practice all we’ve learned and received from Paul’s teachings - everything we’ve heard and seen him doing. Then the God of peace will be with us.’
You and Your peace. Guarding our hearts and minds. With us. Always. Repeatedly. Constantly. Over and over again.
Yes please! Empower and enable me in being and doing all You know is best this day. Thank You. Praise You. Amen.
