It’s the 91st anniversary of my mom’s birth. Bless You Father. Praise You for the love You have provided us through all these years that this morning I would rise and call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28a). Yes Lord. Bless You. Praise You. Thank You.
You’ve done this in me through the years. You’ve laid the foundation of the woman You would have me become. One who loves You with all of my heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30) and my neighbor as myself (31). And I do Father! As best as I am able.
It’s because of You I woke up singing ♪One day when heaven was filled with His praises One day when sin was as black as could be Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin Dwelt among men My example is He♪
Yes! My example is He! Jesus is who came into my life all those years ago to change me from the hurt, selfish, unforgiving girl I was into a young woman who desperately longed to live the life of love and joy You had set out for me.
Thank You Father. ♪Word became flesh and the light shined among us… His glory revealed Living He loved me! Dying He saved me! Buried He carried my sins far away! Rising He justified Freely forever… One day He’s coming! Oh Glorious Day! Oh Glorious Day!♪
Oh, yes Father. ♪Oh Glorious Day♪
You provided me the mom You knew I needed. The one who first introduced me to You through bedtime prayers. The flawed mom who loved her children the very best she knew how. Who in turn became the flawed adults we are, attempting to love You as You so rightly deserve.
Thank You God. Thank You for never giving up on us. Thank You for sending Jesus that ♪One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain One day they nailed Him to die on a tree Suffering anguish, despised and rejected Bearing our sins my Redeemer is He Hands that healed nations Stretched out on a tree TOOK THE NAILS FOR ME! Living, He LOVED me Dying He SAVED me Buried, He carried my sins far away Rising He justified, freely forever! One day He’s coming! Oh glorious day!♪
This is not the most conventional birthday song. The more I sing of it the more perfect it becomes. ♪One day the grave could conceal Him no longer One day the stone rolled away from the door Then He arose, over death He had conquered. Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore Death could not hold Him! The grave could not keep Him, From rising again!♪
It’s Your Word of Truth that allows me to believe that ♪One day the trumpet will sound for His coming! One day the skies with His glories will shine Wonderful day, my Beloved One bringing! My Savior, Jesus, is mine!♪ Yes Lord. Your Word of Truth and promises!
Knowing, trusting, believing and asking You to work in each and every single one of us that we would truly know Your Truth and be set free (John 8:32) to live the life You have set out for us. The life in You that provides us peace in the midst of the many trials and sorrows here on this earth, taking heart because Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33).
Oh yes most dear and gracious God. It is Your will that we would obey Your call to forgive the hurts and pain caused to us by others. Not in our own power and strength. No! Through that of the Holy Spirit.
When He controls our lives He will produce in us the fruit You have had for us since the early days before Adam and Eve fell victim to the tricks of the serpent. Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. And self-control (Galatians 5:22-23a).
This fruit doesn’t come to us naturally. It takes the willingness to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives (v. 25). How perfect that it’s this morning, as I sing of a glorious day that I would finally pay attention to verse 24.
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.” Oh Yes Blessed Jesus! “Let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another” (26).
Mm, Father. Thank You for this blessed opportunity of truly honoring my mom (Ephesians 6:3; Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16) on the day she was born.
You are the One who taught us the importance of practicing love, respect, forgiveness. “Love. Respect. Forgive. Repeat.” Mm, yes Dearest Lord! Thank and praise You for all You are and do. We love You. And long to worship You as You desire. Glorifying and enJOYing You forever.
Thank You Father! Happy Birthday to my mom. Amen.
