lyrics

Tuesday, October 4, 2011 (8:02 a.m.)

Most Beloved Lord God,

Thank You! It wasn’t until I had already been up awhile that I heard music in my head. Then I recognized it. And smiled. Just now, in ‘GoodSearch’ing the lyrics I smiled again. For greater things have yet to come And greater things are still to be done in this City

Right here I am stuck in having no clue as to what to title this entry. You’re the God of this City You’re the King of these people You’re the Lord of this nation You are

These are big thoughts! You’re the Light in this darkness You’re the Hope to the hopeless You’re the Peace to the restless You are

Lord, there are so many things that You are!

Wednesday, October 5, 2011 (7:39 a.m.)

I didn’t see it yesterday Lord. This morning it leaped off the screen. You’re the Light is this darkness

I spent time yesterday looking up verses that tell of many of the things You are. I confess to feeling somewhat overwhelmed [given too much of a good thing J] by the many descriptions of You Lord.

While I didn’t pay close attention to yesterday’s A Fruitful Life calendar page, I remembered it this morning and took a better look at it just now. 2Samuel 22:29, “For Thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.”

Here I am reading of King David’s joy of being protected by You. Not only does he tell of it, he sings it in a song of praise. These are lyrics Lord. Much like the ones I awoke to again this morning You’re the God of this City Thank You Lord that You ARE the King of these people

Blessed Lord, I continued reading down to verse 34, which took me over to Psalm 18:33 and Habakkuk 3:19. Each was set to music, singing very much the same thing, three different ways. “The Lord God is my strength; He will give me the speed of a deer and bring me safely over the mountains” (Habakkuk – “A note to the choir director: When singing this ode, the choir is to be accompanied by stringed instruments”).

“What a God He is! How perfect in every way! All His promises prove true. He is a shield for everyone who hides behind Him. For who is God except our Lord? Who but He is as a rock? He fills me with strength and protects me wherever I go. He gives me the surefootedness of a mountain goat upon the crags. He leads me safely along the top of the cliffs” (Psalm 18:30-33 – “This song of David was written at a time when the Lord had delivered him from his enemies, including Saul”).

“O Lord, You are my light! You make my darkness bright. By Your power I can crush an army; By Your strength I leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is true. He shields all who hide behind Him. Our Lord alone is God; We have no other Savior. God is my strong fortress; He has made me safe. He causes the good to walk a steady tread Like mountain goats upon the rocks (2Samuel 22:29-34 – David’s Song of Praise).

Lord God how I thank You for lyrics that stand the test of time. Lyrics that are just as true today as the day they were originally penned. Thank You for providing joy and hope in scary times of our lives. Thank You that Your Word is true and works in those who believe (1Thessalonians 2:13). Thank You too Lord that You Word is active and living (Hebrews 4:12) and changes us as we grow in it. Thank You Lord.

Thank You for lyrics which set our hearts to the music of our souls. Thank You for lyrics that uplift and give us hope. Thank You for lyrics that remind us You’re the God of this City You’re the King of these people You’re the Lord of this nation You are You’re the Light in this darkness You’re the Hope to the hopeless You’re the Peace to the restless You are There is no one like our God… For greater things have yet to come And greater things are still to be done in this City Greater things have yet to come And greater things are still to be done here

Oh “Amen!” “Yes God.” “So be it!” I love You!
