Praiseworthy Father,
Are You noticing the theme
we have going on this week? Yup. Praise. Oh, and look. Here's an
addition to the standard expression of warm approval, admiration,
respect and gratitude. “Praise be”. An archaic
used as an expression of relief, joy, or gratitude.
Yes.
Praise be, Father! Praise be to You for the work You are doing in us.
Praise be for the love You provide that polishes off our rough spots.
Praise
be for an early morning road trip 67 years ago to Yuma, AZ uniting
two teenagers in marriage. Praise be to the Justice of the Peace who
changed out of his bathrobe and slippers into a suit and tie to match
the formality of the youngsters' attire.
Yes,
Father. Praise be. Praise be to all the love these two very young
people tried in their own ways to instill in the two children, four
grandchildren and one great-grandchild resulting from their union.
Perfect love? (1 John 4:18) By no means. But it was a start for each
of us in finding our way to You.
Praise
be, Father, for another opportunity to turn to this vital section of
Scripture (1John 4:7-21). God's
Love and Ours.
Verse 12 tells us that when we love one another You live in us and
Your love is made complete in us.
There's
much talk here of us loving one another. Knowing You. You having sent
Jesus to atone for our sins. You being love and us living in You,
thusly us living in love. This is hugely important, very deep stuff!
I
confess to barely scratching the surface of any bit of understanding.
I have far more questions than certainties. But one thing I do know.
You love each and every one of us far more than we could ever hope to
deserve. And in turn we are to love one another.
Continue
Your work in each of us to that end Blessed Father. We do love You.
We thank You. And we long to be the people You would have us be.
Thank You. Praise be to You. I love You, Dearest Dad. Amen.
